External awards
External awards refer to scholarships, bursaries or awards given to students by third-party organizations and not by 91Â鶹¾«Æ· or other major providers like Alberta Student Aid. If a third party provides a fixed amount of money to a student for an award, scholarship or bursary, it is considered an external award, and not a Third Party Sponsorship. 91Â鶹¾«Æ· does not issue invoices or T4As for external awards, and encourages award providers to give funds directly to students.
This enables students to manage all their education-related expenses, not just those owed to 91Â鶹¾«Æ·, without delays. Agencies sending cheques to students must mail External Award cheques directly to the student, not to 91Â鶹¾«Æ·.
