A.聽FACULTY OF ARTS REQUIREMENTS
Students must adhere to the applicable Faculty of Arts requirements in 3.4 Graduation.
B.聽MAJOR-FIELD REQUIREMENTS
Students must successfully complete a minimum of 7.0 and a maximum of 10.0 full-course equivalents in the Field of History while fulfilling the following requirements:
1.听Primary Concentration: 3.0 full-course equivalents from a single 鈥淎rea of Concentration鈥 within the Field of History. History 211 and 213 are required for all Majors declaring Canadian History as their primary area of concentration.
2.听Secondary Concentration: 1.5 full-course equivalents from a second 鈥淎rea of Concentration鈥 within the Field of History.
3.听History Options: An additional 2.5 full-course equivalents from the Field of History. Students may select a maximum of one full-course equivalent from Greek and Roman Studies 337, 339, 345, and 347.
4.听Canadian History: At least 1.0 full-course must be in Canadian History.
5.听Advanced-Level History: Inclusive of the courses used to fulfill requirements 1-4 above, at least 1.0 full-course must be at the 500 level. (History 591 may not be used to fulfill this requirement without the prior written consent of the Department.)
C.聽DEGREE OPTIONS
The BA in History can be taken with Cooperative Education. See section 3.4.5 Co-operative Education Programs for information and requirements.
Notes:
- Students will normally select these areas of concentration from the following: Canada, Europe, Latin America, Military-Diplomatic, United States, and World (including Asia and Africa), and Religious. See "Areas of Concentration in History" in the Field of History in 4.34.
- Students are strongly advised not to wait until their last year to fulfill their 500-level course requirement, since enrolment in these courses is limited.
- The Department recommends that all History majors complete one full-course equivalent at the 200-level.
